2024 highlights:
In the current digital era, building a strong personal brand on social media involves more than exhibiting your accomplishments and areas of expertise. It also entails developing deep connections with your audience. Being relatable is one of the most effective ways to accomplish this.
Thus, how might relatability be used to establish a strong personal brand on social media?
Let me share how:
1. Genuine Storytelling: Tell the truth about your experiences, setbacks, and victories. Sincere stories captivate people, and when you share your own, you establish a deeper bond with them.
2. Show Your Human Side: Don't be scared to display your brand's humanity. Give candid behind-the-scenes looks, vulnerable moments, and even the occasional blunders. It gives your brand a human face and increases your audience's relatability.
3. Involve and Pay Attention: Developing a relatable personal brand requires mutual effort. Participate in conversation with your audience by leaving comments, posing inquiries, and paying attention to their opinions. Express your appreciation for their feedback and your sincere interest in their ideas and viewpoints.
4. Consistency in Tone and Messaging: Developing a personal brand requires consistency. To strengthen your brand identification and facilitate audience engagement, keep your messaging and tone consistent across all social media channels.
5. Use Visual Storytelling: To tell your tale effectively, use visual components like pictures, videos, and infographics. By giving your story a face, visual material can help humanise your business and is incredibly engaging.
6. Share relatable material: Recognise the issues, concerns, and passions of your audience and create material that speaks to them. Provide them with relatable content, whether it's comedy, motivational stories, or useful guidance.
7. Be open and honest: Honesty cultivates confidence. Be open and honest about your beliefs, goals, and procedures. Provide details about your business operations and content creation process. Being transparent helps you establish credibility and improves the relationship you have with your audience.
You may develop a powerful and relatable personal brand by implementing these ideas into your social media presence. It takes time and work to develop a relatable personal brand, but the relationships you make along the way will be priceless.
Maintain your relatability and authenticity, and you'll see your personal brand reach new heights!
Q&A with my favourite creator
He is one of my favourite creators on X and LinkedIn. He has built a personal brand on X and LinkedIn by being known for his podcast and how interacting with and learning from people can add value to everyone's life.
I asked him, "What does personal branding mean to you?"
His response was, "For me, personal branding is more about how we are perceived as a person. It blends into 3 components for me. The piece of value that I provide, the authenticity that I have and the marketing element that makes it available to a larger audience and that is how it grows. So, if you take a close look at my social media, then you're well aware that I'm a podcaster, and on the other side, I love to travel. I love to cycle around. So that is something that resonates with me as a personal brand and it helps us elevate that particular persona. That is personal branding for me."
